New Blood
Ben Carr – saxophones
Adam Simmons – saxophones
Joe Talia – drums
New Blood formed in 1998 with original drummer, Will Guthrie with a desire to expand their musical concepts and challenge the conventional roles of their instruments. In 1999 they were awarded the Melbourne Fringe Festival’s Best Music Award. They released their CD, "Heavy Water" in 1999. In 2000, Joe Talia joined New Blood for a European tour, performing throughout Poland, Paris (France) and Rostock (Germany). In Australia they have performed at the Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival, Valley Jazz Festival (Brisbane) and the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival. In 2007, “Live at Plama” was released, a live recording from Poland, with a studio recording due for release soon.
“What I dig about this is that it is great to hear music that is funky without a bass player and joyous with some fabulous fat solos as well.”
Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery, New York
